Roulette strategy

Roulette is a game of chance with a fixed house edge, so no betting pattern can turn it profitable in the long run. What good play can do is stretch your chips, control risk, and keep the game fun.

Six habits of a smart player

  1. Play the single-zero wheel. The European wheel's one green pocket halves the house edge versus an American double-zero table — always the better game.
  2. Favour even-money bets to last longer. Red/black or odd/even win nearly half the time, so your chips survive far more spins than they would on straight-ups.
  3. Chase the payout with inside bets. Straight-ups and splits hit rarely but pay big — spend only what you are happy to lose while hunting a 35:1.
  4. Set a session budget before you spin and treat it as spent. Deciding your limit in advance is the only bankroll control the game actually respects.
  5. Understand progressions before you trust one. Doubling after a loss (Martingale) wins small often but risks a huge loss on a bad streak — and tables have limits.
  6. Ignore 'hot' and 'cold' numbers. Every spin is independent; a number being overdue is a gambler's fallacy, not a betting edge.

Manage the chips, not the odds

Because the edge is fixed on every bet, the only thing in your control is how long and how comfortably you play. Bet sizes you can sustain, quit points you set in advance, and a clear head beat any 'system' that claims to break the wheel.

No progression or pattern changes the maths: each spin carries the same 2.7% house edge regardless of what came before. Roulette is entertainment — play it as such, with money you are happy to spend.
